I have been using Portent for years. The essentials package, I have recommended to at least 5 of my fellow business owners who have also signed up. We have all noticed an increase in my business. I keep in constant contact with my representative, and increase my spend and decrease as needed to manage my work flow. I have been a client for many years and highly recommend them. I read some of the other reviews and checked my own change history. I had 459+ changes on my account in a 4 month period. I think that's well done for a small volume account. Again, I recommend Portent highly.

We engaged with Portent for a PPC campaign through their 'PPC Essentials' program. Based on Portent's claims, description of services, customer reviews, and industry recognition we felt confident Portent's services would be useful in elevating the campaign's performance. We were sorely disappointed.

After our agreement was finalized with the manager, we were assigned a specialist to our campaign. I monitored their activities on the account, and found the little work they performed was of poor quality. They set up new ad groups without extensions or mobile ads and their work was sloppy and near amateur. We terminated their services after only three weeks as a result. While they may say need more time to improve a campaign's performance, I'm not one for paying for low quality services.

I would not recommend using the PPC Essentials plan. It appears to be geared towards taking advantage of the Portent name and spending minimal time and skill on small business owners AdWords accounts to maximize profits. My opinion in Portent as a company is seriously diminished.

As a new small business owner, I was excited to find Portent because they had such a great reputation. They set up 5 ad campaigns for me on Google Adwords. They monitored the campaigns and made minor changes when I asked for them but after about 5 weeks they completely stopped working on my account. I discovered the Change History tool in Google Adwords and found the log that clearly showed they had not touched my account in over 6 weeks. I am angered by this incredible negligence and the appearance of taking advantage of my ignorance and lack of experience. If I hadn't discovered this hard evidence of the fact that they were doing absolutely nothing, they would have been happy to just keep collecting their monthly fees without lifting a finger. They refunded me their fees for the time they did nothing on my account, but I spent hundreds of dollars to Google directly for the cost of my ads which were not successful because they hadn't been attended to. Very frustrating and costly learning experience, folks. Do not make the mistake of trying to get anything accomplished with this company. Don't waste precious resources if you are a new small business! If you try it, make sure you are checking on their work. every. single. day.

We engaged Portent to help with PPC, as part of their 'PPC Essentials' plan for small businesses. We chose them because of their claims about being leading experts in PPC. They convinced us we needed an "account audit" (US$800), which is no where mentioned on their 'Essentials' page. This audit basically consisted of a completely new set up on our Adwords account that appeared to be written by a two year old. The ad copy was so poor we asked them to rewrite it at least two times. When challenged about some of their logic, they sent long defensive emails by reply that showed us they really didn't look into our account in any depth. They then wanted us to pay in advance for the first month, however we were so worried by the lack of attention to detail we requested that they confirm they will provide a higher level of service, to which they replied that we needed to, "come to terms with their service and strategy”! Basically saying that as a customer we know nothing and should accept second-class service and support. We have asked for a reply from Ian Lauire ("Chairman"), asking for a response or refund, of which we have received neither. Portent's commitment to their customers is pathetic. Avoid at all costs.
